About the Author

Nigel Paine is a learning and development consultant, running his own consulting company, which focuses on leadership, creativity, innovation and e-learning, working with companies in Europe, Brazil, Australia and the US.  He was previously Head of Training and Development at the BBC and built one of the most successful learning and development operations in the UK.  He is an academic director and member of the international advisory board at the University of Pennsylvania, and he is a Learning Fellow with the Learning Leadership Academy in upstate New York.

There really is not much one can say about Mr Paine and his book - simply excellent. Not only does it cover all the current challenges we as L&D professionals face but he supports each one with a case study and options / strategies to go forward. His ability to tap into some of the gurus of L&D from around the world brings this book to life as they recount how they went about resolving and addressing these challenges.The book covers everything from the changing L&D landscape, 70-20-10, Neuroscience, Performance Support and Instructional Design and my favourite of all was Learning Impact.If you are a learning professional and looking at way to address your current challenges the book will go a long way in helping you achieve that.

Really enjoyed this book that I found out about in a review on TD (the ATDs magazine). Gives really practical advice and insights, plus case studies from companies. Well worth it!

As a reader who is not a learning specialist, I was less interested in trends in the L & D profession and more interested in what the author had to say about measuring impact, instructional design, and technology for learning.

Exceptional is how I rate this book. The timing of this book is incredible as educators and learners embark on the new paradigm of learning given the advances in technology and learning platforms. The book is filled with several case studies backed by extensive insights from literature. The author is very much ahead of his time, thought leader and an intelligent futurist. You will read this book and dramatically change your teaching style. I highly recommend this book, particularly to​ Learning Leaders and Educators.
