A fairly good translation as far as I can tell. My only problem is the fact that Kaguya refers to Shirogane by his name instead of President like she does in the Japanese version (since her inability to call him by name is a major plot point later on). Were it not for this change, I'd have given it five stars.

I started reading this Manga due to the amount of joy the anime gave me. The book is just the same if not better by giving you more detail in how the minds of Shirogane and Kaguya work. The story is about Two High-school students who happen to be in the Student Council. The Vice President being Kaguya Shimoniya, A rich heir to a Wealthy company worth more than a Billion Yen. And The President being Miyuki Shirogane, A poor student who got to his position based on pure knowledge alone. After some time the two start opening up to each other but do not want to admit it. You see, whoever confesses their love in a relationship is the loser in this "War of Love". Throughout the series you'll read many crazy antics and scenarios in which they try to make the other confess, most of the time ending in the others favor.All in all this is a great manga to sit down and relax to and I couldn't recommend it enough.Solid 5/5

Shinomiya no longer has a heart symbol in her eyes.Minor nitpick:Avoid the fan translation because it makes every speech and narration more enjoyable.If you compare them both, you will spend time comparing instead of enjoying this series.To the publisher:I imported all the Japanese volume release and I am planning to buy all Kindle release.Don't go around shutting down fan translation s. Currently the localisation is weaker and I hate how the book cover is changed.

The book is good, but Amazon shipping can be a bit of a hassle since sometimes books arrive damaged, like this one did. I returned it and they made it right, however.

I bought all the volumes just to support the author, but honestly you're better off just reading the fan translations online since they do a better job in capturing the character's personalities and delivering the humor.

I've already read beyond this volume but this series is absolutely amazing from the start and it only gets better. Currently waiting for the volume 2 release.

This unlikely pair seems to work well together and has a secret - they like each other. However the two of them believe the one who confesses to the other is the weaker person, so they strive to trick the other into confessing first. But when you are two genius level intellects, overthinking things is just the least of their worries. Who will triumph in the ultimate mind game - love......This story was interesting. A mind game of two people as they try to get their love interest to confess their feelings first. While the story does seem to not follow any particular rhyme or reason, it still is interesting to see the interactions of these two as they overthink everything to the point that both tend to fry themselves out. But the one you need to watch out for is the secretary Chika Fujiwara. The author writes her off as a clueless individual, but i have seen too many anime and read too many stories that there is that one who is manipulating things a little for their own entertainment. There has been too many times that you would think one gets the upper hand, but then she does something to spoil an advantage (like the lunch scene and the final chapter when Kaguya was trying to do a dream intervention). I will enjoy reading the second book to see how the war continues.

Glenn Dynner is Professor of Jewish Studies at Sarah Lawrence College. This is a fascinating book by a writer who draws on sources most of us probably didn’t know exist and couldn’t read if we do. Full of historical details but reads like a story. The writing is clear and wee paced.

The work has no peer. For now it is a bit dull in many spots. There is some redundancy and it might have been better to focus on like forms of local or regional attempts to work about otherwise enforced regulations or laws in different periods and then summarize the history, referring back to a cited instance. There is a pattern there that is seen once and again and one feels that the Eighteenth and then the Nineteenth Century one lands yet again in a similar rut along the road. Still, with that reservation, the author makes a point that Jews provide reliable middlemen for the local lords and that with heads turned away from them, the Jews earned some substantial monies and status as providers of libation as well as lodging. To the extent that this has been previously ignored, the work is worthwhile. It is not terribly lengthy, but I suspect that it could have been cut by a quarter, or nearly so, with tight editing.

From what I can tell, this is a very readable treatment of a fascinating subject. Much of it seems to be territory already covered in Hillel Levine's Economic Origins of Antisemitism, but in a less scholarly form. However, I gave up on it after a few dozen pages.My problem is not with the book itself, but the format in which Amazon provided it. It acted like an old PDF file: Margins were fixed and the text could not reflow to fit screen size or viewer's preferences. This meant that it was (for me, at any rate) unreadable on my 5.7 inch screen smartphone, which is my usual ebook reader. DNF - made it to 31% (end of chapter 9) before throwing in the towel.I don’t know how to review this. I really wanted to like this, the cover art was awesome & lured me in, to even skip it to the top of my TBR list, when I bought this (for free on Amazon). There was potential, but somehow, it was lost. To start, the editing/proof work is horrible, it can ruin even a good story, but in a mediocre story, it just becomes un-readable. Too many pauses spent backtracking to make sense of a sentence, & disrupting the flow. Then the flipping back & forth from past to present every chapter is a huge turn off. That jump to the past in chapter 10 was where I said enough is enough, I’d end up destroying my iPad if I have to do one more jump to the past (even if it does give insight into what happened to bring the story to the point it’s at in the present). There has to be a better way than chapter surfing from past to present. Then there’s Callypso, she’s too stupid to be a a good heroine character. I hated her. The only thing I did like about her, was her using her Siren powers for good instead of evil. Then the “Bargainer”, aka Desmond Flynn. A contradiction in itself wrapped up in an enigma, a fae that does very much remind me of Rhys from “A Court of Mist and Fury”, a little too much for my tastes. Callypso keeps saying he’s a bad guy, does horrible things, well at 31%, I didn’t see it. He seemed like a pretty nice guy with Callypso. I didn’t see anything bad, other than the naughty innuendos he flirted with Callypso & Callypso saying he’s bad. So no, I won’t continue with the series.

Thalassa weaves a story of intimacy, vulnerability, betrayal, and forgiveness between two very flawed souls--Callie, a 23 year old siren and Desmond, the King of Night. We see Callie evolve, leveraging a past of abuse and horror to become the woman we meet at age 23. The flashbacks were very well developed, bringing the reader along in an engaging narrative that had me feeling her pain and routing for her happiness..And then there's Desmond...oh my. This stud of a guy is immune to Callie's siren gift and takes charge as Callie's protector after deserting her seven years prior (causing all manner of heartbreak). He's a bad boy, that despite the pain he's caused Callie, is someone she still deeply loves. How many times do we do that to ourselves...but we can't help it. At times Des had me thinking "Shade" in Rosamund Hodge's Cruel Beauty.While this relationship takes center stage, the action moves forward as Des allows Callie to help him solve a mystery, why female fae warriors in the Otherworld (where Des is king) are turning up in comas with live infant children.****SPOILER****My absolute favorite quote: "A fairy doesn't show his wings to his betrothed...A fairy shows them to his soulmate."Oh, be still my heart...I'll definitely be reading the next installment in The Bargainer series.

I liked the concept of the book, but as several other reviewers stated, something wasn't quite there. I don't know if this is because I just finished two very good books back to back that had multiple plot lines that were put together seamlessly that this book seemed to fall flat, or if it was something more innate to this story.Generally speaking, I liked the characters and the world seemed interesting. I like stories with heavy romance, so that was a positive here. But I feel like the 'mystery' plot was not well developed, explored, or fulfilled, and there were no real subplots to pull me in. The mystery seemed like more of an afterthought. Some other areas bothered me, and I'll go into those below.SPOILERSAnother reason I felt it was lacking was that there were a few instances where the main character just seemed dense. For instance, when there are no sufficient subplots that would point in any other direction, it's not a big reveal that this person who has kidnapped and has hundreds of partially paralyzed women in cells is the main bad guy and not just some other random bad person. The main character only figuring this out at a minimum 20 pages (read on Kindle, not actually sure how many pages) after she's been kidnapped brought me so far out of the story that I literally had to stop reading for a few minutes at the ridiculousness of it.Eli pissed me off, part 1. He breaks into her house, doesn't listen to her, endangers her with his werewolf-ness, and then begins an amorous encounter when she clearly tells him to stop and go away. The only way she can get him to stop is by using magic, and then he has the gall to be pissed off about it and put her on a 'most wanted list' for using her power to stop him? This is treated as okay because he is an alpha, and he's defended even after this on several occasions. Yeah, no.Eli pissed me off, part 2. He's only okay with the end of their relationship when he sees Desmond's wings. Seriously, not when the person you're dating tells you it's over? Not when she uses magic to keep away from you? Not when she clearly chooses another person? No, when the other guy shows up and is like, yeah, she's my soulmate.By no means do I think it's wrong to show how certain people are - Eli's behavior is practically normal. But not to acknowledge it and to play off that he's one of the good guys with no repercussions is just irritating. Especially in a book that has so many female victims of sexual violence where it *is* clearly stated that it's a problem.Des calling in one of his debts to stop Callie from drinking. They'd barely mentioned that her drinking was a problem, there were really no lasting results indicating that she was having a problem not drinking alcohol, Desmond introduced her to drinking in the first place, and Desmond drinks in front of her several times after. Overall, it seemed like Callie's alcoholism (if that's what it was) could have been played up more, or should have been set to the side altogether. As is, Desmond just seems like a controlling jerk.Desmond never really seemed like the bad person or the badass he was played up to be. It was all tell and no show. I'm not counting the teacher incident.

She is heartbroken.Seven years later, he is back to collect his debts.This was one of those stories that takes you by surprise. From start to finish, this book held my attention. It was magical. It was highly entertaining. There was just enough action to keep me on the edge of my seat, while there was plenty of romance to hold my interest. I will definitely be looking forward to the next book in this series to see how things work out for Callie and Desmond, aka the Bargainer.

This is another paradigm-shaping book, like that of A New Heaven and a New Earth: Reclaiming Biblical Eschatology, by J. Richard Middleton (see my Amazon review of this same date). While both trace the same theme from Genesis to Revelation, their approaches and emphases are somewhat different, and I had the privilege of reading them both back to back. They definitely complement one another, and the topic of God's goal of a transformed and renewed creation as consummated in the New Heavens and New Earth is such a glorious and profound theme that I really couldn't satiate my hunger by reading just one book. Beale begins with the theme of Eden as God's Garden-temple in Genesis 1-2, and how Adam was placed in Eden with a priestly calling to work and keep the garden, subduing the animals and cultivating the earth, and expanding Eden. Instead they failed to guard the garden and were subdued by the serpent. They were in turn cast out. But God's plan for creation did not fail, rather his plan was carried on, eventually focused on Abraham and his sons, and on Moses. All during this time, the concept of a holy sanctuary where God dwells and meets with man is developed and expanded to the tabernacle and ultimately the temple. The temple imagery recurs throughout Scripture. As Israel fails and is taken into captivity, the promise remains alive through the prophets. Ultimately in the Gospels, Jesus is shown to be the true temple of God, and after his resurrection, the church (in Christ) is said to be a true temple, and its members have a priestly ministry. The temple and sacrificial imagery continues. With Jesus death and resurrection, we have the inauguration of the fulfillment of the promises of the prophets, carried on through the ministry of the church, until Christ's second coming. At that time, we see the final consummation of all things--the New Heavens and the New Earth, with the New Jerusalem descending from heaven to earth. And there we see again imagery from the temple, and from the original Garden-temple of Eden, and we see the features from Eden such as the river of life and the trees of life. But there is no physical temple there, for God and the Lamb are the temple, fulfilling what the earthly tabernacle/temple had pointed to and moved toward. As Beale says, "God's glorious presence in an Garden-like temple in Genesis 2 has formed an inclusio or book-end structure around the entire Canon (Gen 2 and Rev 21-22), thereby providing an interpretive key" to the whole Bible. This book will enrich your study and appreciation of the Bible, and cannot be recommended too highly. Instead of spending time worrying about a rapture, or 7-year tribulation, or an earthly millennium, could not our time be better spent focusing on what the Bible clearly focuses on and points to? That final and eternal glorious consummation of all things where God's dwelling place will be eternally with man, with sin eradicated forever?

An excellent book in the realm of Biblical Theology. It shows how Adam was actually the high priest of Eden charged with keeping it Holy. As the priests were charged, so we are charged today. The keeping of this charge includes the necessity for purity and holiness. The theme of the book is the parallels between the beginning of Genesis and the final chapters of Revelation.

EXCELLENT BOOK: THIS IS A MINI-VERSION OF G. K. BEALES LARGER "TEMPLE" BOOK.

This book got me to thinking of Jesus and the wider world as a temple. This would be excellent reading for any lay person in church, which is what I am. To see our mission on earth as expanding the temple of God (image bearers and )His Word to all the earth through witness and sacrifice of our bodies in a daily way is only done through the power of God's Word and prayer.

Beale is a fantastic author.He has helped me to understand the storyline of Scripture, in relation to God's presence dwelling amongst us, and how that has been manifested throughout time amongst the people of God.

This book has left me speechlessly overjoyed. I know of only one response and that is to bow in worship!!! I will be re reading this book time and time again to wrap my mind around it’s truth and flame the fire burning in my heart for the Lord!! You Most High! You alone are worthy of praise!!

As a result of reading this book, the Scriptures are exploding with deeper meaning for me. So thankful to have these insights in accessible format. (I can’t even lift Beale’s other massive works without help!)

Took me a couple of chapters to get in to this book. But now I'm loving it! Very interesting connections and overview on God's presence and the purpose of it.
