It is a challenge for me not to repeat myself regarding Ray Comfort's books. I find them enjoyable, illuminating, persuasive and easy to digest since they are served with generous helpings of common sense and reason. I suppose that I am not educated enough to justify a dismissive or patronizing attitude toward his literary offerings. For that, I am thankful. I share his firm spiritual beliefs and have learned more about true Christianity through his ministry than all other that have come before in my research of 50+ years. This book is one of many of his that shows Rays candid and sincere feelings for all of God's creation and children. He has a heart that expresses God's love for all attested to by numerous friends and friendly foes over many years. Neither God nor Ray believes in atheists, just people who have been created in His image and each life and soul is beyond all earthly value.

Do I care that there are people all about me who don't know the truth about God's Moral Law, the consequences of sin, eternal separation from God? Do I just not have the desire or courage to share the truth about God's gift of salvation with them? Or perhaps I'm not sure how to share the truth of repentance that leads to salvation. Ray has shared from his life's journey and now I'm equipped, inspired, and motivated to talk with others about our blessed hope, which is only found in Jesus. An enjoyable read; a heart rending read; an instructive read; a must read.

This book not only challenges an atheist in the way they look at life but it gives one food for thought. This book gives the reader many well thought of ways to look at life itself, such as, " Everything that was ever made has a Creator" and there's many things in life that we cannot see as humans but yet we still believe they exist. A Born Again Christian can also benefit from this book since there's so many ideas in it that they can share with the atheist in a Christ - like loving way. I found this book very easy to read. It was written so a common folk like myself could understand.

Solid content and writing style. I purchased another copy for my sister who also enjoyed the read. Mr. Comfort has a unique way of getting to the logic of believing in God and debunking some surface level arguments against the reality of God.

If your Christian you will like this book and if your atheist you will not like it. It doesn't prove one way or another.

I also have the book which gives more detail on this issue.Ray Comfort did a great job of illustrating why there isreally no such person as an Atheist. Just look at yourhand and marvel at the handy work of our creator.

The points Mr. comfort makes are profound and thought provoking. My only critique is that he tends to jump from one point to the other without making a smooth flow. It could read better with a little re-arranging. But I could not agree more with his premise.

Ray does an amazing job explaining how simple it is to prove the existence of God. The read is easy and makes you want to read more.

I bought the paperback version and was very disappointed by the poor production - many of the figures (especially the captions) are nearly unreadable. Maybe the Kindle version is better. I am about half way through but stopped when the very important figure 9.3 was just wrong, it being am exact repeat of the previous figure and having nothing to do with the topic at hand (if you could read it at all it so faint).All that said, the book so far is quite interesting with a mix of biography and cognitive science. So I plan to get back into it. Unlike many other books on AI it actually presents some nitty-gritty stuff rather than just the usual buzz words. If AGI actually comes about I wouldn't be surprised if it looks a lot like the ideas in this book.

The book arrived as advertised.

AGI Revolition is exactly the book I was hoping it would be.Ben Goertzel has written an up-to-date, as of mid-2016, overview of efforts to develop artificial general intelligence, grounded in his own decades-spanning work which includes organizing annual AGI conferences beginning in 2008, and creating an open-source initiative at opencog.org as a vehicle for continuing collaborative development. Human-level machine intelligence has not yet happened. Goertzel has a wealth of ideas, grounded in such experiences as a mathematician, programmer, entrepreneur, and parent, in how to make it happen. His passion for reaching the goal is evident on almost every page.In close to 600 pages, there was only one point at which I thought that Goertzel presented a piece of information with which I clearly disagreed. This was on page 532, in chapter 17 regarding The Terminator Question, and the risk of developing artificial general intelligence. He wrote, "Despite the uncontested dominance - and undoubted destructiveness - of the human race, we have not wiped out simpler, less intelligent life forms." According to some observers, we are now in a sixth mass extinction event, primarily resulting from human-caused loss of habitat for other species, and increasingly resulting from pollution such as emissions of greenhouse gases. Extrapolating from human behavior towards other life forms is not much of a source of reassurance for benevolent behavior from advanced machine intelligence towards humans.Having acknowledged that weakness in Goertzel's argument, I have to affirm that on practically every other point, I applaud his reasoning and passion, and endorse his vision not only of the goal of developing artificial general intelligence, but also of the means he suggests to make it happen. The means, according to Ben Goertzel, is through open source software, developing a cognitive synergy among various components: a hypergraph representation of knowledge, a probabilistic logic network, genetic programming, deep neural networks, and so on.

Should be named Pottery Bible. Maybe 3 pages on slip cast mold ceramics do's and dont's. I was looking for a book to teach me how to use my molds and kiln and slip and how to fire and paint bisqueware, types of paints, etc. Not much of what I was looking for in this book that I've found.

This is a very nice read for anyone interested in learning about ceramics. It mostly covers processes on how to do things, but it also has featured artists that it also talks about. Since it mostly covers processes, it's great for beginners, or to just keep. If you already know how to use a potter's wheel, slab build, glaze, etc. it's not that essential.

This book has nothing to do with the Lord or Christianity. Which is a bit misleading. I was kind’ itching to know how John the Baptist made a pinch pot but I’ll cuddle with my wonder for eternity and glaze these ceramic fish my cousin Randall made.

As a new Deacon, I was searching for some information on just what my duties were. This book really helped me realize just how important my role in in the church. It spelled out all the things that I should be doing to serve the church and my Pastor. After sharing some of the items in the book, I was asked by my Pastor to order one for each of our Deacons. This is truly a wonderful book to read if you are a Deacon. You will be surprised at what you are called to do!

Love this book. All the Deacons at my church have this book to guide us. I am a Deacon-in-training, and was given one to read to prepare me. So I went out and bought one for myself.

If you are thinking that you are being led to being more involved in the Lord's House, talk to you Pastor, Minister ect. & read this book first. It was so intense, I read it twice. It's great!!!! I'm on my third time. It is so informative!! It will answer most of the questions that you may have. The main subject is that you pray, study you bible & meditate on what you have read. I got this book as part of the KindleUnlimited program, but was planning on buying the hardcopy when it was released. I'm not planning on doing that after all.First, this is a good book that could have been great! It's a book that includes a little insight with a lot of behind the scene stories. It's about building champions, but really it's mostly focused on Katrin Davidsdottir. What could have been a book with the same impact and longevity of "How to Win Friends and Influence People" it instead falls short to a one and done read book.I follow Ben's podcast and am a member of the Comptrain Masters program that Harry Palley & he have created. I believe he has a lot of really great insights there and unfortunately the majority of them never really make it on the pages of this book.The Good:1. If you love behind the scene stories and insights from those on the competitive floor and you didn't follow the CrossFit Games or any of CrossFit's "Behind the scenes" coverage then you might not know many of these stories. If you have, then there will be no new insights or stories..2. The book is written in a user friend and non-academic way, so you can draw some inspiration for the stories and small bits of encouragements.3. There is a lot of opportunity for Ben to write a second book going into more detail with sample training plans, worksheets, and mental training that he has Mat, Katrin and Cole (Sager) go through. Perhaps Ben will write a second book with these insights and details, but they're not there in this edition.The Not So Good1. The title leads one to believe you'll find ways to "Chase Excellence" using specific details on "Commitment", "Grit", "Positivity", "Confidence", "Maximizing Minutes", "The Process" and more. Unfortunately, as I mentioned above this book is more about sharing the story of how Katrin went from sixth place to back-to-back champion, but without sharing the details of how she did. As alluded to at the end is a line where Ben shares how Mat, Katrin and Cole tell him not to "give away the playbook", but that's what the title and chapters alude to. We don't get much more than some general quotes and a whole lot of back story. This is a plus, if this is how the book is outlined and titled from the beginning, but the subtitle should be "The Behind the Scenes of Mat & Katrin's Fittest Man & Woman Titles" instead.2. One shouldn't expect a secret or strategy that's never been heard of before. It's true that some knowledge, humility and hard work are the secret to success. That said, there is nothing here that prepares one to chase excellence that you can't get from "The Obstacle is the Way", "Ego is the Enemy", "Mastery" or other books.3. The book ends very quickly with an epilogue when the Games are over, as if there was a publishing deadline. It would have been great to incorporate some of the books, course, worksheet or other items here, if it's not going to be part of the chapters. Further, a workbook of sorts would be fantastic to provide the same.4. There is no "Reading List" or suggestions for other book that "Chasing Excellence" could use.I love Ben Bergeron's programming and podcast insights. I think this book was the antithesis of the title and was not his best efforts. The good news in publishing is that you can create a second edition and include these items. Further, the book should be the catalyst for an online video training course for implementing these habits. Buy this if you want to read again of Katrin mostly and some of Mat trying to win the Games. Save your money and buy "The Obstacle is the Way" if you want practical insights in living many of the principles briefly discussed in "Chasing Excellence"

What a read! I loved every single page and it was hard to find a fault with it. This book delivered in two ways. It provided all of the ingredients on what it takes to be the best, and to chase excellence. Each chapter focuses on a different trait. The cherry on top is that Ben uses the CF Games to solidify these traits, how it works, how to use them, while also telling his recollection of the CF Games too. It’s so nicely done that I didn’t realized that I just got a behind-the-scenes look at the games while learning the traits of a champion! Well done!

If want some motivation to be de best version of yourself this is the book you have to read. I follow Bergeron's training plan and it has helped me a lot, not only for conditioning or improving my fitness but also to have a structured training and this book is the perfect combination to his training program. Even if you are not into crossfit yo can apply the Bergeron's philosophy to any aspect of your life.

If You follow Comptrain, and just Love getting behind a coach's and his athlete mindset this book is for you. Great if you do crossfit, but also inspires for every aspect in life and everything that you do. It's a great read and read it three times already. Love Ben's mindset and how his athletes condition themselves mentally inside there ears instead of outside there limits. Also Love how you can go back and watch the games and see the references in the book plays out behind the scenes while you are reading and replaying the events. Great book and looking forward to Chasing Excellence Volume 2.

Incredible read, and the beauty of this book is that even if you've never done Crossfit this is still such an awesome read. It tells a story about taking gifted athletes/people, applying character and mental/psychological practices to the mix and making them extraordinary. If you're a coach, manager, or teacher this book will tell you the right way to build a team or person in to someone that'll better change society. Really happy I took the time to read this book and hope this isn't Bergerons only one!

What Ben Bergeron teaches is nothing "new" or innovative; however, he articulates everything so well and accompanies everything with a great example. It's never old to re-learn the basics. This is a great read and the language is very down to earth. Finished it in a day and will reread it from time to time. We could all use reminders on how to chase excellence, how to be better people, athlete, and coaches.

While the book tells the story of 2 of his athletes & their journey to CrossFit greatness, it more so tells anybody how to quit making excuses, quit living in the past, dwelling on what you perceive as failures, & live every day for that day, give it maximum effort with integrity! I found his points very encouraging & they are already helping me in my everyday life, as well as my workouts.

Great book. I'm not a cross-fitter but I follow it and have watched Ben's athletes (Matt, Katrin, and Cole) compete. His process is awesome and is proven. Great read. Applies to all areas of life, not just CF.

In fact, it’s divided into three books, each named after the important magicians in the story (Strange, Norrell, and the long ago Raven King). A warning here – Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell is slowly paced and slow burning. The action and pace don’t pick up until the climax in the last hundred pages or so.So why, might you ask, would I read a book with 900 pages of build up? Because that build up is so enjoyable. Susanna Clarke is an excellent writer (she’s using the style of classic nineteenth century authors), and her writing is not without humor. I was not at all expecting it, but often I would laugh out load upon reading a line. Take this quote for instance:“Houses, like people, are apt to become rather eccentric if left too much on their own; this house was the architectural equivalent of an old gentleman in a worn dressing-gown and torn slippers, who got up and went to bed at odd times of day, and who kept up a continual conversation with friends no one else could see.”I love the footnotes as well. Sometimes they’re just explaining a reference to a magical text, but often they are stories within a story, like the fairy tale about the Master of Nottingham’s daughter and her quest to retrieve the magic ring. Other times she uses footnotes (as well as in text commentary) to skewer the prejudices of the age. There’s a certain irony in that Strange and Norrell are acceptable magicians because they are gentlemen, even though others such as Childermass would probably make just as good or better magicians.If you pick this one up, you’ve got to have at least some interest in history or a liking of classic English writing like Jane Austin. If you’re looking for the usual action adventure, medieval world type fantasy, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell is not for you. If you’re looking for something different, an original fantasy book, than this is the book for you.

The following review is written by my 15 year old daughter for whom I bought this book:I've read a lot of reviews of the kindle version of this book stating that it is boring, (as if it were a fact.) Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but to flat out say it's boring is an insult to what I consider to be a masterpiece. “Not my cup of tea” would be the better thing to say. For me, it was a page turner, and I actually wish it were longer. I'm inclined to think that if it were infinitely long, I'd just keep on reading and reading! Why do I love this book so much? The writing, for one thing. It's beautiful, and I just love the way the author described things. I almost laughed out loud at some of the comic descriptions of characters, but other times the descriptions were just plain creepy or haunting. The plot was also very interesting to me. The characters are fully fleshed out, and I came to feel as if I knew them. A lot of the book is spent describing things and on conversations between characters, without a lot actually happening, per sey, but to me, it just never got boring. Most of the actual action happens near the end. It's not a thriller, but to me, it's infinitely better. And no, this is not “Harry Potter for grown ups.” I personally prefer it to Harry Potter, but if it's two magicians flinging fireballs at each other you're looking for, this isn't it. The magic tends to be things like walking through mirrors, making it rain, and conjuring up visions. Like I said, everyone's entitled to their opinions. This is mine. In short, this is a wonderfully well written book that is sometimes creepy, sometimes comic, and sometimes serious. It's not for someone with a short attention span. The length never bothered me, but if you're willing to commit, it honestly doesn't take that long to read. I have already HIGHLY recommended this book to some of my friends, and over the years, I will go back and read it over and over again.
