I got it this book (because the KAPLAN one from my local library had all the practice tests and questions filled out - so couldn't challenge me at all)I am happy with the actual information presented (though the KAPLAN one is definitely more professional and better prepares you for the actual test)The formatting and layout of this is extremely basic and poorly done. (kinda like the whole book was made in Word)I also found many mistakes in it (some of which will affect your practice test score, some of which is just outright *wrong* information)Overall, the information is valuable and helpful, but the book itself, not so much. If you want a proper test guide, go for the KAPLAN book.

This book is wonderful, I definitely suggest purchasing it if you are planning on taking the TASC test.

This book prepared me for the tasc exam. If read carefully it is a great way to receive a passing score.

It is good

I think the only thing I can point out that I would like better, would be color photos and of course, that is not necessary to learn and it would cost more. I have been working with my niece helping her study for her High School Equivancy Exam. She is having a very hard time with Algebra & Functions, and I am having a hard time trying to explain it to her (probably because I sucked at it myself). I have not checked out the rest of the study guide yet but we spent only two days on these two sections. She took the practice test and got 15% correct, then we went problem by problem going over the equation, the answer, and the explanation to the answer. Honestly, the explanations written in the study guide make it so easy to understand that I think that was the key to learning the material. I even got a better understanding. The explanations are short and strong. After retaking the practice exam, she raised her score 70% higher. How awesome is that. Here is the kicker - she then took a practice exam from a different study guide that she got 10% correct and raised her score on that test 70%. With that said, we've only tackled these subjects. I am excited to keep teaching her other subjects through this study guide.

I have been using this for 2 weeks to test students I am tutoring to pass their TASC test. The students were able to get through concepts that were giving them problems and passed the test first time.This is an important part of my classroom.

This book has very detailed guidance for the TASC exam and useful notes on the exam content. It has not only practice questions and answers, but also extra explanation on answers to let the user have better understanding on how the answer chosen. Also I like the FREE test prep dvd option with this guide. This is would be a good self study guidance.

I bought the book to help my daughter pass her HSED, she used the book, doing the test at the end of each chapter and passed no problem in her first try without haveing to take any of the adult education classes

Love the movie. always kept an eye out for this title.that said, bright eyed anticipation, cause the cover and preview looked promising. After the first few pages, they promptly rolled back ... from boredom.art's average ... at times making the Goblin King look like one of the evil, ugly step sisters .... in drag. while the story is flatlined...with His father coming across as a dandy noble ... with mental issue and mother being another Sarah (I didn't like her as she comes across bland)I wouldn't get it if my local library had a copy for me to preview. While I'd like to know what happens in the nxt issue, I'm afraid of being disappointed again.

This is a perfect story for someone that needs more Labyrinth in their life. Jareth’s character gets more fleshed out for those interested in the mysterious king. A must have for any Labyrinth lover. Can’t wait for the second volume to be released.

About the Author

Gwen Cooper is the author of the novel Diary of a South Beach Party Girl. A Miami native, she spent five years working in nonprofit administration, marketing, and fundraising. She coordinated volunteer activities on behalf of organizations including Pet Rescue, the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind, the Miami Rescue Mission, and His House Children’s Home, and initiated Reading Pen Pals, an elementary school-based literacy program in Miami’s Little Haiti. Gwen currently lives in Manhattan with her husband, Laurence.  She also lives with her three perfect cats–Scarlett, Vashti, and Homer--who aren’t impressed with any of it.

I have read this book 4 times since I bought it. If you are a cat person, it is a must have. If you aren't a cat person, you would still enjoy this book.

One of my favorite books I've read. I heard about it on "My Cat From Hell" where Gwen guest starred for an episode. I never heard of the book but, being an avid cat lover, I figured I wouldn't be disappointed.I was right. The only time I put this book down (reluctantly) was for work.Gwen knows how to pull your heart strings. Being an owner of a beautiful baby abandoned as a kitten who patiently waited two years in the shelter for me to take her home, I cried so many tears of fear and joy that I started using a tissue for my bookmark. Read from April 01 to 06, 2015OMG! I am in love with Homer! This cat Gwen rescued from her vet is the most touching stories I have read in a while. He was brought in by some people at around 3 weeks with messed up eyes. They said they found him and wanted him euthanized. Well the vet wasn't having any of that, she removed his eyes and when no one wanted him, her last resort was to ask Gwen who already had two cats and couldn't afford another one at the time. She couldn't help herself and took him!The stories about Homer learning the lay of his land in the house is amazing! He just had a strong will to live and discover things. You just have to read the book to get the full effect!I have to say my favorite part of the book is with the burglar. I laughed so hard I thought I was going to crack a rib! Who ever heard of a blind attack cat! Well that burglar was stunned to say the least. I can not believe how funny that scene was, I would like to write it out here but I will save it so you can buy the book :)I am going to add a SPOILER!!!!!! IT'S A PART FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE BOOK!!!**SPOILER***TAKEN FROM THE BOOK*When I walked in with my date, Homer ran to greet me at the door. And there, hanging from his mouth, was a tampon. The whiteness of it stood out against his black fur in vivid, mortifying relief. He scampered around in gleeful triumph for a moment, then promptly ran over and sat expectantly on his haunches in front of me, tampon clutched in between his jaws like a dog with a rawhide bone.My date looked taken aback, to say the least, "What the....is that a.." He stammered for a moment, before finally managing, "Did something happen to your cat?"I hunkered down on my heels, and Homer happily climbed into my lap, dropping the purloined tampon at my feet. "He's fine," I answered. One of the best books I have ever read! I highly recommend it to anyone. Not just cat lovers, or pet owners. I enjoyed it so much, I searched for a bought Gwen Cooper's other books as well. Homer's Odyssey is a great book. His story is inspirational. In fact, I have since adopted a blind cat that lost her eyes due to head trauma on the streets of Thailand. She was older then Homer so she still remembers having sight and isn't quite as fearless as he was. But she is an amazing cat and I see a lot of what Gwen talks about in Homer's Odyssey when I watch my Coconut.

If you love cats you will love Homer and this book!What a wonderful real-life story of a woman, who despite owning two cats and living in an apartment, adopts a blind kitten. But he's not just blind, he has no eyes, as his eyes were removed when he was just a very young kitten. But the story of the travails and triumphs of cute little Homer will melt your heart! You'll read how he managed to map out his home in three dimensions using his senses of hearing, touch, smell, and perhaps a sixth sense of knowing all. His sixth sense allow him to run around and jump up on various furnishings without bumping into walls or otherwise hurting himself. You'll also read how Homer and his two cat friends were trapped in their apartment for days because their building was in the danger zone after the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. (Without giving away the story, they came through without a scratch due to the derring-do of Homer's human mom.)If you love cats and the people who love them you will really enjoy reading Homer's story.

I received this amazing book as a gift. You don't have to be a cat lover to fall in love with Homer which is a beautifully written story about an incredible, special blind cat. It has been translated into over 20 languages, inspired many people across the globe to adopt and save thousands of animals who have different needs, especially blind.My house is full with 4 black cats, and 2 small black dogs, but when a mostly blind, black cat needed a home, there was no hesitation on my part. There is an alphabetical index that implies that it lists all pages where patterns with a particular manufacturer's trademark are located. Unfortunately, this index is not very complete, so it is frequently necessary to look through MANY pages with related brands in order to identify a particular pattern. This is the biggest shortfall of this reference book. Also, some patterns appear more than once, under multiple manufacturers (due to the consolidation of the silverware industry), but other patterns that were made by multiple manufactuers do not appear under each manufacturer. These incomplete multiple listings aren't necessary, but if they remain the pages should be cross-referenced to each.

This is simply the best reference for silverplated flatware identification. I find value guides to be worthless no matter what the product is. If you are looking for present values, go to eBay. If you are looking to identify silverplated flatware by manufacturer or by name (or by illustrated picture), there simply isn't a better tool.

My husband and I make jewelry from vintage silverware. This book has proved to be very easy to use, and yields up the answers I seek about 95% of the time. For a few pieces of flatware we come across, I still have to resort to internet searches. But, overall, I am pleased and very glad I own this. The drawings are very detailed. Great book to own if you just wish to look up patterns.

If you are a collector and/or a dealer in silver plated flatware you simply have to have this book. Even with the internet you could spend literally hours trying to identify a piece and often fail. With this guide you can identify almost any American manufactured silverplated flatware within a few minutes, and have confidence you are correct. And, though the publisher/author may not like it known, you don't need to update this. The values are pretty meaningless but the identification remains the same. Once you have identified the piece/pattern then you go to the internet if you want to see values. Buy it. Use it.

I had been looking for this older edition and found this for a reasonable price in like-new condition. I don't think it had ever been off the shelf. It was perfect for my needs. I received it sooner than I expected, a bonus plus for me!

This is a fabulous resource for pattern identification of Silverplate flatware. I use this book with her sterling flatware ID and value book as well. I actually bought both these books because I wore my last ones out! True!

About the Author

Mr. Quek received his B. Eng. (Hon.) in mechanical engineering from the National University of Singapore in 1999. He did an industrial attachment in the then aeronautics laboratory of DSO National Laboratories, Singapore, gaining much experience in using the finite element method in areas of structural dynamics. He also did research in the areas of wave propagation and infinite domains using the finite element method. In the course of his research, Mr Quek had gained tremendous experience in the applications of the finite element method, especially in using commercially available software like Abaqus. Currently, he is doing research in the field of numerical simulation of quantum dot nanostructures, which will lead to a dissertation for his doctorate degree. To date, he had authored two international journal papers. His research interests include Computational Mechanics, Nano-scale Computation, Vibration and Wave Propagation in Structures and Numerical Analysis.Dr. Liu received his PhD from Tohoku University, Japan in 1991. He was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northwestern University, U.S.A. He is currently the Director of the Centre for Advanced Computations in Engineering Science (ACES), National University of Singapore. He is also an Associate Professor atthe Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore. He authored more than 200 technical publications including two books and 130 international journal papers. Implausible plot. Cardboard characters. Supposedly set in Grand Cayman, but the geography in the book doesn't match that of the actual island. There's a hair-breadth escape in every chapter, by unbelievable means sure to elicit groans and eye-rolling. Better stick with Jack Reacher or Bob Lee Swagger if you want real action/thriller writing.Given the fact that this is a self-published book (no price, publisher, bar code, etc. to be found anywhere), one might expect a somewhat lesser level of writing style - but this book appears not to have been edited. Typos abound. In one sequence, our principals enter a convenience store with $500 worth of stolen travelers checques, and make a deal with the proprietor to sell them for 50 cents on the dollar. On the next page, they leave the store with $2500. I gave up on this one after 90 pages.

I liked the reviews but noticed there weren't a lot written by females and I'm not normally a big spy or what sounds a little like vicious action...but this was sooo good! It really grabbed and entertained me-to the point that I'm still thinking about the character even after I've finished the book. In fact, although I feel like I have to write this so others get the chance to read it, I really want to start the next book by him I that I just bought. Quick and short-this story is the kind that takes you away and totally entertains. I highly recommend you get this book. It's really enthralling! :)HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! :)

Sometimes, when I'm after a quick read, I'll flip through some of the automatic Kindle suggestions, then browse through the 1 and 2 star reviews, checking out what people didn't like. Then I start wondering if it could really be as bad as readers are suggesting. The collection of low reviews for FLASH intimated that I had found a "winner".This thing reads like adolescent fiction, with inconsistency after inconsistency, none of which get in the way of the heroes dodging every bullet, breezing through every cunning plan their enemies throw at them, and having endless cash and resources to help in their own survival. Early on, despite having their memories wiped, they are completely familiar with the roads on the far side of an island that neither of them has ever set foot on. And so it goes.If you want something totally disposable for an international flight, or long train trip, you could do worse than FLASH... though not much worse.

What would you do if you lost your memory, total amnesia, a diabolical gap of years, and you realize slowly it will never come back. FLASH keeps the suspense going with just that premise. Two principle characters, male and female, gradually figure out they are part of a despicable plot to use a strange chemical to earn huge amounts of money by erasing the memory of targets specified by ruthless clients of a seemingly wealthy lawyer. At the same time they know instinctively that they are the good guys with responsibility to somehow end the plot. Tim Tigner is superb at making the plot wind around keeping the reader guessing till the very end. A great read and very hard to put down before finishing. Tim Tigner never ceases to amaze me. The plot lines to his stories are totally mind-blowing. There is a level of intellect and artistry that raises him above your average thriller writer. To paraphrase a line from this book: "Tim IS the sharpest knife in the drawer."In FLASH, Emmy and Troy just woke up on Grand Cayman Island sharing a parked car with a dead policeman and they are covered in blood. They each know their own names, but not each other. And their last memory is where they were seven years ago (Troy was a combat surgeon in Afghanistan, Emmy a grifter in L.A.). Obviously, they can't go to the police in their condition. They have to figure out what happened to them and how to get out of their current situation. As they try to keep one step ahead of the cops, they realize they are being followed by an unknown person who is not there to help.They start putting together pieces of the puzzle and uncover a charismatic attorney with an audacious method of helping clients out of legal jams. In an attempt to stop him, they become pawns in his most despicable scheme yet. To say any more would be adding spoilers. Just get this book now and plan to read it in one sitting.I have read four other books by Tim Tigner and can honestly say each one is a winner. He combines fiendishly inventive plots with strong characters and always a touch of romance. I have never read another author like him. His world is one a reader will enjoy getting lost in.

The plot twists, character development and dialog in this book compare to “straight to DVD movies.” I was more than disappointed reading this book, I was angry that I was misled by the reviews. The author compares himself to the great thriller and mystery authors of today, he is not even close. The dialog could have been written by a teenage it is so cliche ridden and thin. The characters are nothing more than stereotypes, there is nothing beneath the surface; and the plot is only advanced by totally nonplausible developments. You may not know exactly how it will be decided but you know all of the outcomes. I am one and done with Tim Tigner as a author.
