Coming from someone who took the test recently (and passed):The book is great for English, Math, and Arts/Health/Fitness. It's only okay for the science in preparing you for the test. There's a lot of information in the science chapter, most of which you won't be tested on.Do not even bother with the history chapter, it doesn't provide any information you'll see on the test. It should be noted however the information is valuable in ones everyday life and towards teaching history. It just won't prepare you for what's on the history test.Additionally, as you can see in the picture, the map of the U.S. (page 176) has Oregon and Washington transposed. Someone should fix that.

This product overall was helpful in preparing to study for the NES subtest 1 and 2. My book received had no printed or text errors. I feel that this book best prepared me for subtest 1 (ELA and Social Studies) as the information was similar to the test. I feel that the math section was not as helpful for subtest 2. I studied the book and practice test for months and did not have any math related questions similar to the study guide. Overall I would reccomend as it was much more helpful and full of more detailed information than the online study guides you can purchase on the AEP website.

I liked this study guide as it has many practice questions. And more important than that, it has explanation to why an answer is the correct one. It doesn't go in detail on many of the topics but i dont know how much detail is demanded on the actual test. I will update my review once I've actually taken the test. But I have to say I feel the need to go online and look for a practice test that simulates the real test. I dont feel confident to take NES just yet. But that's based on my own fears, nothing to do with the book review. i know there one you can buy for around $17 on Nes website.

I love the fact you have the sample questions so I know where I need more studying in those areas.

There are errors throughout the book - either misinformation or typos. In spite of that, the book did help prepare me for most of the information covered in the tests, with the exception of the social studies portion and the language arts was also only minimally helpful.

I really like this study guide as it has many practice questions. I’ve had other study guides before and they’ve had very minimal practice questions. For me I need to study with questions like what’s on this study guide. One more thing on this study guide is the pictures/pictorials throughout the book for each subject. I would truly recommend this to others! Thank you!

The book covers the various ways of felting information, it identifies the basics of forming a stable base for items being felted. There are many different styles of wool Mermaids, Fairies, and Nymphs in the book to choose from. I think it exceeded my expectations.

Of the seven or eight other introductory texts I have read on process theology, this one by Bruce Epperly is perhaps the best overall, even though it does not replace the others. This is a strong claim to make for someone who appreciates the works of John Cobb and Marjorie Suchocki, both of whom have written many classic books on process theology. But one of the great strengths of Epperly's introductory level book is in his synthesis of many of the most important ideas of other leading Christian process-relational thinkers from the last few decades, including Cobb and Suchocki, but also David Ray Griffin, Charles Hartshorne, Catherine Keller, Bernard Loomer, Thomas Jay Oord, Robert Mesle, Lewis Ford, Jay McDaniel, Monica Coleman, and last but definitely not least, Bruce Epperly himself. Additionally, he quotes widely from the complex works of Alfred North Whitehead throughout the book, highlighting some of his most memorable passages and explaining them in a way that makes them more accessible. A second strength of this book is due to Epperly's emphasis in practical theology. He is concerned, first and foremost, with the way in which process theology works within the lives of individuals and communities, impacting churches and preaching. This adds up to a real gift in clear communication, but also great sensitivity to the actual lives of people outside the academy, leading him to concentrate less on complicated academic debates and more on issues like prayer, life after death, ethics, and holistic healing practices.Here are a few things that stood out to me about the book:1) Epperly goes through every important area of Christian theology and explains the various ways that process theologians understand them - christology, soteriology, sin, anthropology, eschatology, ecclesiology, pneumatology, and the trinity. This is pretty much standard for process theology intro books, but Epperly is particularly clear and thorough in his explanations of the various process interpretations of systematic theology. Beyond the basic areas of systematic theology, Epperly also explains process views of miracles, scripture, revelation, and mystical experiences.2) A very helpful overview of process ethics is included on issues like abortion, euthanasia, ecology/animal rights, and economics/justice (which draws heavily on Cobb's work). Such a wide variety of important issues are not always a part of other introductory level process texts, so this was a great addition to the book.3) As previously mentioned, Epperly synthesizes other key process thinkers in this book and summarizes many of their most important contributions to the process theology conversation: Cobb's logos/Wisdom Christology and work in ethics; Suchocki's theologies of original sin, eschatology, and prayer; Epperly's own work in holistic healing practices and eschatology; Griffin's work in the area of theodicy; Oord's work on a theology of love; Coleman's Womanist theology; McDaniel's work in ecology; etc.4) Lastly, in the final chapter of the book, Epperly considers the possibility of the "amorphous, yet dynamic" emergent church movement adopting a process theology framework. He argues that process theology provides the flexibility that the emergent church is committed to while avoiding relativism, purely apophatic spirituality, and deconstructive postmodernism (most forms of process theology are contrasted as 'constructive postmodernism'). It encourages as much openness to other religions as possible while remaining rooted in a (constantly evolving) tradition - a kind of 'confessional religious pluralism.' Indeed, citing Brian McLaren, Epperly believes process theology can provide a truly inspiring philosophical and theological grounding for a "New Kind of Christianity." Although only a few self-identified emergent Christian writers/leaders/pastors are explicitly aligned with some form of process theology at this point, there are certainly overlapping emphases with process in many emergent/emerging books and blogs. As such, Epperly's invitation to emergent Christians (who are largely post-evangelicals) to consider process theology as a viable option in their search for new forms of faith makes a great deal of sense for anyone familiar with McLaren or Doug Pagitt.While process theology is anything but easy to understand for many beginners, Bruce Epperly has done a fantastic job of making it accessible without oversimplifying the incredible depth of process thinking.

I was hoping for an explanation of process theology for dummies. The basic concept I get; I get way too lost in the details, though. If you're not philosophically minded but want to understand process theology as a layman then I suggest you keep on looking.

I guess what I was looking for was a way to incorporate my former evangelical beliefs into a world view that kept what I consider important aspects of the divine, one of them being the personal nature of God. However, Epperly refrains from using pronouns when talking about God which is some ways is not only distracting (God takes God's time to do what God wants) but also makes God into something that we cannot define in a personal way. He is no longer he and is not she or they or it, but an entity without pronouns therefore without personality. I'm sure Epperly's description of Process Theology will be helpful to some, but I will take Process Theology off my list of theologies to explore.

Before I purchased this book I struggled in my Graduate level theology classes. After a few frustrating attempts at writing a paper that included Whiteheadian theory and others, I downloaded this book (Kindle) on Process Theology and knocked out an "A" paper. I plan to buy others from the "Guides for the Perplexed" series.

Because I was not disappointed with phenomenal ending. This read gave me something as much as it took from me and left me full of wanting, wanting desperately to write as exquisitely as this.⠀⠀⠀You have addicts, you have love affairs, you have the utter brutality of the rage of unspeakable horrors and the sweltering southern heat... and yet... nothing burned with as intense of a glory as the profile painted of the human condition. Moments most gruesome swelled into scenes of sensuality and intrigue. This is historical fiction that delivers the error of human nature and asks you, "Aren't you capable of this? Don't you recognize this darkness?"⠀⠀⠀This is, friends, my best read of 2017. It is my first five star read on Goodreads.⠀⠀⠀I've been reading since I was four years old and outside of the Bible, friends, I have never read a story that moved my soul such as this.

I hate this book. It is different from anything I have read. It is painful to read it. I tried several times to stop reading it but I had to go back. I would continually have to read sections two and three times. Never has a book grabbed me and shook my mind until I craved the next page and tried to understand exactly what the author was saying. No doubt there is tremendous truth in the story of Lilith. Not a pretty story.....sad, terrifying, and written in ah manner that I feel deep inside. I am not proud of my ignorance. I thought I was educated and well versed on the subject. The author showed me that I had no clue of the real history and concept of slavery. I will read this book again.

On a Jamaican sugar plantation, a slave girl is born--cursed, some would say, since she had bright green eyes, like a cat, and her mother didn't survive the birth. The girl is named Lilith and 'The Book of Night Women' is all about her (de)evolution--and what an evolution it is. (Actually, the overarching story ends up being bigger than the evolution of Lilith, but it wears that as a guise.)First thing that needs disclosure is that this book is a difficult read, syntactically speaking, unless you're accustomed to Jamaican Patois--even if you are, there may still be some stumbling blocks--because the entire book is written in heavy dialect.Second thing that needs disclosure is that this book is explicit in language and brutal in rendering. If you have a weak stomach when it comes to slavery and its ills (i.e. torture, r.a.p.e, lynching, wanton misbehaviour, so forth), you will heave, possibly vomit, and have nightmares. Thing is, while brutal, I have no doubt it was a near accurate rendering of the time period.Without disclosing too much of the story, I'll say Marlon James is a bit of a magician. He was able to immerse me so utterly in the time period and setting that I had to put the book down a few times just to get my bearings and maintain my sanity. He also gave me every reason to despise a particular character (several actually), but made me shed a tear for that character near the end. It left me feeling as though I were the one with Stockholm syndrome. And the ending--it was a nice touch, very poignant, and provided a plausible explanation for some of the story's inconsistencies.The book, however, wasn't without weakness, mainly with some characterizations. The primary characters were well crafted, but some of the secondary characters--specifically, several women in the 'night women' group, blended together. I found myself asking more often that I should, which one was she again? And the story builds slowly--it took several chapters before it took shape. Once that shape emerged, however, the book was difficult to put down.There are no saintly characters--many are difficult to like at all--but they felt real; the prose and some references might be difficult for non-native speakers; and the story builds slowly (you'll need to actively will yourself to stick with it), but the story does turn out to be a compelling one. Overall, I'd selectively recommend this book because it's not for everyone, but it stayed with me for several days after I finished (and will likely stay with me for a lifetime).

The book follows the life of a slave girl named Lilith. Neglected and isolated, Lilith develops a crush on her master and falls in love with another white man as the story progresses. This is not a slave romance story. The book treats this as abnormal. The author carefully paints a complex world where the reader will understand why Lilith falls in love and why there cannot be a true relationship between a slave & master. A slave and master relationship is akin to that of a child with a physically and mentally abusive parent.The story isn't an easy read because the language & the institution of slavery are brutal. Additionally, some readers may have difficulty reading books written in a dialect. Those who can deal with the authentic ugliness of life under slavery will find a beautifully written tale that is spellbinding.Slaves have strengths & courage. Freedom is the goal. Resistance & rebellion are the tools to gain it.For Lilith, both slaves and masters have their own agendas, and both will use her as a tool. But she is resilient. She will grow and learn. Readers will cheer and yell as she does.The plot is tight, tension abounds, I found myself unsure of what I wanted to happen at the end, but able to trust that the author would give me a satisfying one, and he did.

I thoroughly enjoy Vanhoozer's material. He writes with great clarity and intelligence. I gave this a three star rating because I was slightly disappointed when I started into it and realized that he has only written the first chapter. The rest of the chapters are written by his students and are practical extrapolations of the principles he writes in the first chapter. Don't let that turn you away from the book though! Still a well written book. I simply wish Vanhoozer could have written more.

I ordered this book in the Kindle version for a graduate school class. I'm very happy that I did! It is sure to become of of the staple reference books I will keep handy as I progress through the rest of my degree program and beyond. Stylistically, it is a bit easier to read than some of the other theological books I've read. But that is in no way at the expense of the value of it's content.

I loved every chapter. The first 60 pages develop an evangelical theology of culture, and the rest of the chapters are applied theology. Well written ,interesting, timely. I will require it for my theology of culture classes.

Back in the late 60s it was common for even fundamentalists to use the popular music of the era as a vehicle for communicating the Gospel. Anyone here remember the Scott Ross Show? That was an exciting era. In this book Kevin & Co. present us with a practical (observable and not simply academic) framework for doing this same thing again. (Why this excites me so much is that it was this very behavior that came along with the Jesus Movement -- spell that R-E-V-I-V-A-L.) I’m so glad Chenell is doing stand alone because a bih would be having withdrawals right now. Jersi was pissing me off so bad trying to be so spiteful with Mariah and Blake, sometimes you just gotta let Karma do her work and he thirst for revenge almost costed her Memphis with his Fugly (FineUgly) self. I want Phil and Cat to get a Spin-off though (hopefully a wedding 💒) and i hope Jersi and Valerie get their relationship on one accord. Can wait to see what you come up with next. I won’t reveal too much in this review I’ll save it for the book discussion that I’m sure is soon to come.

Once again Chenell wrote a banger. I’m never disappointed when I read a book by her. I couldn’t stand Mariah, Blake was just plain ol dumb to me. Talena and Tabby definitely needed a life, they were both annoying. I loved Memphis, but his mama needed I foot to the throat. Eva was also a hot mess and I didn’t like her either. It’s sooooooo much to say about this book but I’m not🤷🏾‍♀️🤣 JUST READ IT!!! You won’t be disappointed.

I love Jersi and Memphis. You made him ugly but he still got the prize. That is what is wrong with the world. You should not alway look at person outside check more the inside. Chenell you did your job and you do it damn good!! Keep them coming!!!!

I loved this story line it was fire. I liked how relationship between Jersi and Memphis developed throughout the book. Well worth the wait

Book was good from the beginning to the end. I love romantic books. The scandal in the book was great. Mariah would have got them hands. Karma is real.

Where do I begin?!!! Oh.... ok so Blake.. hated him! Mariah... hated her and Jersi almost made me hate her too!!! These characters were all different yet shared one thing in common; they all wanted to be #1! Blake was so much like his father it was pathetic and Jersi almost lost Memphis behind her shenanigans. I’m soooo happy Dray/draya and Sassy was there to get her in line. Oh and Draya... honey! His humor and honesty kept me wanting more! His lifestyle seemed so.... taboo but he kept all his boo’s in line. That Malcom really rubbed me the wrong way! He is what’s wrong with gay men nowadays and I was really hoping he would’ve gotten exposed more. Overall... these characters were unlike ANY Chenell has ever written about. I hate to spoil the story but make sure you read slowly because there’s some gems to be caught and some shade that’s going to knock your wig off!!!! And... rip to Mariah hoe ass! She was truly disgusting and I’m sooooooooo happy she died! Whew, glad I was able to say that. Now y’all head over and love on this banger!!!

The author's stories are always compelling and filled with drama, which makes reading them a treat. I am not a fan of cheating. I tend to dislike the cheater (and oral is still sex, and therefore cheating) which means I would dislike almost everyone in this story except the family pet, if there was one. Although I like to see people pay for there actions, what happened to Mariah and Blake was too much. Also, why do the women always pay, yet the men, Damien, and Eva's cheating husband who was just as accountable as she for their treatment of others, usually come out ok.Seeing the story unfold was exciting. I liked Memphis' character, although the description of him only described fine-as-hell to me. I didn't see where the ugly part came in and it would have been helpful to see what Jersi considered ugly. To me, she was. Although described as physically beautiful, her selfishness, and inability to let things go caused all of this in my opinion. And why can't grown people tap out of an uncomfortable situation? There is no way I would attend functions with my ex and the woman he cheated on me with, I don't care if it had been a tradition handed down since the time our Greats ran for freedom to escape slavery together (an exaggeration). Sometimes, you just have to say no.I saw no growth in Jersi. She was still fight up until the end, opening herself up for assault charges, which I find immature for a grown woman.Could has stood more editing.

Great story i so no wrong in what jersi did except hurting Memphis while getting revenge on blake and Mariah they both got exactly what they deserved and so did juan, jonah and lilia, she was pathetic tryna get with Memphis when he was married to her sister and his mother was ok with that, i don't blame jersi for not messing with her, she didn't like her off the word of lilia. Tabby was pathetic too, her and talena they were both doing too much. Eva was a sad case and got her karma too, too busy looking down on others and look how her family turned out, im glad dena stopped dealing with them. Great ending to this story, so glad Memphis got the family he always wanted.

How could you do this, Dugoni!?! What were you thinking? Letting the cat be killed by a car was bad enough; but this? This was beyond the pale! There's vicious, and then there's going too damned far. I have given your first two books 5 stars. I would have preferred not to rate this book at all, but couldn't review without doing so. Okay, so maybe I'm a reader who gets too emotionally involved with the characters. But if you start reading a series, the characters become more than just names on a page--at least for me. And you, Dugoni, are the author who wrote them in such a way that I got to know and care about them. So other readers may take all in stride and not have the gut reaction I did. If you can be sanguine about characters and just appreciate the plot, good for you--go ahead and read this book. Enjoy. I, on the other hand, was so frustrated and upset I just skipped to the last 10 or so pages because I so hoped for a happy ending. Not to be. I will buy book #4, but if it turns out to be even close to this one, I'll never read another David Sloane book again. Not even a character in a book should have to suffer the pain and loss that Sloane has. I know it's fiction, but I still can't take it.

I liked the end. It had the potential of being sappy...but it wasn't.Listen, I like Dugoni. I've read several of his books, to include the 5 book Tracy Crosswhite series. "Bodily Harm" is not in the same vein, quality wise, as the Crosswhite series. It just isn't. The story line is difficult to follow in places. Some of that difficulty is due to flash backs, which, I will admit is set off by italics, so we know when that is taking place. In another respect, there were times when I just didn't know who was talking. There were scene changes that at times were confusing, given what was going on otherwise at the time.. I also think that some of the dialogue was unnecessary to further the story line.I don't retell story lines in my reviews, but have to say the overall read was "wordy" in places.I thought the plot was relevant and was well developed. The characters were fleshed out, both protagonists and antagonists There was certainly rising action, falling action and a resolution, which as I say above came dangerously close to being "sappy" but Dugoni cleaned it up in the end, which was good.Again, I liked the book, as I do like this writer's style in the way he tells a story. But must confess that Tracy Crosswhite is his bench mark in writing, not this read.

I have read, so far, all of Mr. Dugoni's books. While it's hard to choose which series I like best, I can honestly say that this one is the best. It made me cry, which I never have done while reading a book. It also made me believe that we still have good, unselfish people in the world. In today's world, we need to remember that more than ever. Thank you for the book and the story about your Dad.

The first two David Sloan books were excellent. Bodily Harm was even better. (I read Murder One first and it's the best!) Bodily Harm will break your heart in many ways, in the story about the children who died, the others who died who tried to do the right thing, and David's personal tragedy. It has its uplifting message as well. Sloan's partnership/friendship with Charles Jenkins is particularly touching given David's personality and his tendency to keep people at arms length. These are smart, capable men who go to any length to get at the truth. This is a smooth thriller that is well written and moves along with action and suspense on every page. The character development, particularly of Sloan and Jenkins, is excellent. Bodily Harm is a wonderful novel - you'll love it!!!

Mr. Dugoni takes you on an emotional rollercoaster that lasts long after you read the last word on the last page. David Sloane and Charles Jenkins meet the one adversary who just may be able to take them both down. There is so much to this novel, action, courtroom drama, greed and kindness, evil...but mostly love. It may seem a strange thing to say about a book so packed with action and intrigue, but read this book and then try to tell me I'm wrong.

Hace tiempo que no leo detenidamente un libro. Es el mejor libro que he leído y me dio ganas de leer más. Hasta me entristeció llagar al final. Aunque este libro cuenta con más de 500 páginas he podido leerlo en muy pocas sentadas.

Novelota al estilo Dumas y los Tres Mosqueteros, pero sin mosqueteros. Quizá apele a adolescentes del siglo pasado. Muy aburrida. Me pregunto ¿por qué el premio?

Me gusto mucho el libro, encontre que estaba muy bien escrito. Todas las histories muy bien cordinadas. Me hizo parecer que conocia a los diferentes personajes.
